what will work be like?

My friend and I sat today during lunch and wonderd what work would be like after the World Cup is over.

"What... only a one hour lunch??"

Clearly, alot of us here have gotten into the World Cup spirit... you see a bunch of people sport their nations jerseys as they watch the games... some talk shit (for fun), some cheer... one duded even jumped up as his team was about to score and landed on the other table... everyone laughed.

but the world cup will end come July 9th. and we wont have any more soccer in the mornings. :(

it'll be a time when we'll be sad...

and Mexico is out..

Mexico is out of the 06 world cup. :( they had a so so performance during the first round, but impressed in their knockout round game against Argentina. Hell, they scored first.. but unfortunately, Argentinal pulled off a great goal in the 1st overtime half and Mexico just didnt have the energy to bounce back. I'd like to say i'm glad that they made it and that they played well, but i know they could have had a better performance. nonetheless, i supported them since they had great players. I wore my jersey with pride.

so now. who do i root for? well. im always a fan of our latin countries.. Brazil is my top choice now.. Argentina is good, but i dont know, they bugged me a bit and i hate Maradona... Ecuador is still in, so i'll root for them. and Ive also been a fan of Spain, especially since i lived there for a while and loved it. so there you have it... lets see how this world cup turns out. so far its been full of great surprises.. underdogs winning powerhouses...

i love the world cup.

C'mon!!!!

It's half time.. and I'm watching the Mexico vs Portugal. Portugal has played well, and Mexico hasnt. they are currently down 1 - 2. needless to say, im nervous...

C'MOOOOOONNNNNNNN!!!!

News flash... US sucks.

I really expected a lot more from the US. They dont have world class players like say Brazil or France, but they do have good players with good abilities. Their first world cup game was nothing more than a dissappointment. Ball control was lousy, team play sucked, and offensive strategy was nowhere to be found. For hyping up being #5 in the FIFA world rankings, and having a 10 year old soccer league, they really didnt show for it. Honestly, those ranking are crap. and I really hope the US has learned from this, they cant come and dominate something just because they feel they are the best. Its about how you play, not how you talk.

Italy vs Ghana. Honestly, both teams looked great. I was very impressed by Ghana, they held their own against another favorite. and actually ALMOST beat them. I'll bee keeping an eye on them. Italy is, well... Italy. they have an awesome team.

i didnt wake up for the korea vs togo game. i was too tired. but i saw the goals and it seems korea is doin well.

France vs Switzerland. France was not 100% France. they have had this "curse" lately where their players just cant gel together. Switzerland barely qualified to the World Cup due to having a better goal differential, but they had a solid team with a good defense... along with some good counter attacks. France needs to wake up, Zinedine Zidane cannot do it all by himself.

and now. im waiting to watch Brazil vs Croatia. a very very anticipated match. again, two power houses. i know for sure my team will watch this game...

The World Cup is upon us!!!

The World Cup is finally here. Every 4 years, countries get together and play a soccer tournament to figure out the world champion. It's no easy process, during the 4 years prior to that, countries set up their teams and then play regional tournaments to decide who makes it to the next world cup. This time, it takes place in Germany. Being a soccer fan since i was a kid, this is THE tournament to watch. It's where you cheer on your team (or teams) and pretty much put yourself and your pride behind each team.

I've been up at 6am every day since Friday, which is when this tournament started. Games are at either 6am, 9am, or 12pm, my time. I've been fortuante enough to be in a job that allows me to watch them. hell, we even have a partnership with them. Needless to say, i'm very excited to see the matches.

Now for some comments. I'll keep it short.

Germany: they started off their first game winning 4 - 2 against Costa Rica. Its been a long time since we've seen such a high scoring first game openner. They have a solid defensive team, with decent ball handling and little chance of errors. being the host team, you get a slight advantage in that you have the extra pride in your team. they'll get far, no doubt.

I missed the England vs Paraguay game, but i saw the end. Ive never been a fan of English soccer, since its dubbed "kick ball style". basically long passing and headers, not my style. but they are always strong, and will also get far. Paraguay should be doing well too.

I slept some of Trinidad & Tobago vs Sweden. but from the sounds of it, Sweden didnt live up to their standards. Trinidad pulled off a tie, and played a very well game, but they still have a lot to prove.

Serbia vs Netherlands: Netherlands is a team i really wanted to see in the world cup again. they had awesome players in 94 with great skills. sadly, they didnt prove to me that they have what it takes. maybe my hopes were still that they'd be as good as the previous team back in 94.

Mexico vs Iran. Iran played well, but Mexico stepped up and took the lead. I am cheering for Mexico because, well, I'm mexican. But honestly, they still need to prove themselves. They lack that intelligent play making ability right now. they greatly improved during the 2nd half. If they keep it up, they may have a chance to go far, but honestly... the other countries are so much stronger. but hey, everyone has a chance.

Angola vs Portugal. Angola held their own but fell apart toward the end. they lack a lot of skills and ball control. Portugal, i was very impressed with. every player had great ball control and passing. I really believe they will get far. so far the best team ive seen.

Australia vs Japan. This was the last game i saw (gonna watch the US vs Croatia game in a bit). Japan controlled most of the game and were up 1 - 0 for i'd say 80% of the match. unfortunately, they couldnt keep it together long enough and wound up losing 1 - 3, all in the last few minutes. Australia isnt a great team, they also lack some playmaking, but they pulled it off.

Winning your first game is crucial in this tournament. Winning one game and having a tie practically guarantees you going on to the next round. Two wins is a definite. hopefully the rest can do well. My notes so far are that Brazil and Czech Republic will have the strongest teams. I still need to see how France and Italy will do, since they are also power houses.

aaaaaaaaaaanyway....... time to go watch the US game. :)

why my body is in pain

I played two indoor soccer games this week, one on monday, and one on wednesday.

Monday's game was very rough, and I must have played the most intense game i have played in a while. The ref was calling some bogus calls, and it seemed he just was a little against us. We also were down guys at the start, we didnt have enough for subs, so we decided to play with 3 girls (vs our usual 2) to give us a break. In any case, we lost by a lot, but the other team had good sportsmanship, and very talented players. Needless to say, my body was hurting the next day.. very sore.

Wednesday's game was also intense. This was my mens league team. They had 2 players that were awesome: very fast, agile, and great team plays. at one point we were up by a lot, towards the end we were up by 3 goals. We got careless, and they ended up tying. The ref that game was probably one of the best refs in our league, a young guy too. In any case, i ran like a mofo, more than usual. When i was tired, i subed out and then ran some more. again, needless to say, my body was hurting even more today than Tuesday. I did score a goal, and almost had 2 good chances. :)

it felt good though, to actually push myself a bit more. i need to do that more, instead of being comfy in my current health status. I'm a bit fat... i noticed some current pics of myself and compared them to some of a few years ago. i can notice it. and then i feel fat. time to do something about it.

moblog :(

awe... boo...

I just tried to upload this cool snapshot of the upcoming fifa world cup ball, only to realize that my moblog doesnt seem to work anymore. Either i'm doing something wrong (I tried it twice) or Verizon has changed the way they send pic messages.

so for now. my mobloging days are over. :( boo. time to find another software that may work.
