Since living in SF, I've been introduced to hipsters.
I am a pretty accepting guy, but maybe I've just had some bad luck and/or encounters.
1) I was at this bar called the Kockout Room in the mission/bernal heights. Right off the bat, they charged us $5 to go in.. mind you, on a Wed. We wanted to try it out, so figured why not. who the hell charges a cover to a bar??? anyway, we go in, and instantly realize it's a hipster joint. everyone is dressed in the typical attire: tight pants, plad shirts, beards, long hair, nerd glasses, etc... we order some beers, begin to chat.. then suddenly, these 2 girls start to play the cello.... on a distorted amp... on reverb. we reached a point where we had to leave becaues the sound was unbearable. yet, eveyone else seemed to be enjoying it. We just didnt get it, and left. more power to them.
2) i was sitting at a table eating some pizza at one of my favorite pizza joints. It was a hot day, so people were out. these 2 people asked if they could sit with me, i was actually happy since i didnt mind the company. the girl seemed normal, but teh guy was definetly a hipster. He began to talk to me about his job, as a barista. and complained about how people didnt appreciate his coffee at work. understandable, some people are just jerks. then i asked him where he lived, as small talk. he basically lived at a friends house and from the looks of it didnt seem to want to find a place. seriously? you're going to sit here complain about a barista job when you just live nowhere? maybe im being judgmental, but the whole convo just felt strange.
3) i was walking down to the corner mini-mart. Suddenly this gang of strangely dressed kids just started to prance around. one girl was wearing a suit, with a tutu undernearth, and had some crazy colored hair. the rest werent too far off. Only in SF would you really see this. I was in a bad mood that day, so they just seemed extra annoying to me.
I dont know, I just get a sense sometimes that some of the people I talk to feel they are better than me for being that way, a little patronizing. As if the know something better than me.
ok, anyway... rant out...
